Political Communication with Games: A Role Model for Associations and Institutions?

Why are games worthwhile for institutions and associations? This session provides an insight into the production of two digital games that are meant to do more than entertain. "Felicitas Fogg - around the world in 80 cards" provides playful information about important future topics such as mobility and data security. "Leon's Identity" deals with the question of how one can tell that a loved one is caught up in extremist ideologies. Here, two political institutions, a Federal Ministry and a state government, have decided to use games to convey complicated issues. The discussion panel is a report of experience. It is intended to give interested representatives of associations and institutions initial pointers as to how they themselves can use games sensibly. At the same time, it offers gamers an exciting insight into how and why their favourite medium is increasingly gaining recognition in politics and society.
