Europe is both a concrete reality of life and an abstract context. How can this tension in our perception be bridged? The mobile game "Pathways - Europe at Your Fingertips", funded by the Federal Foreign Office and implemented by the Art Directors Club, moves off the beaten track: the personal stories of five protagonists, told using augmented and virtual reality, allude to larger European themes such as Erasmus, youth unemployment, the European institutions and climate change. The map of Europe projected into the space encourages the viewer to explore and interact with the environment. The paper look combines the mixed-reality technologies used with an analogous haptic. Together with the participants of the workshop, we would like to develop ideas and material with which the game can be embedded in schools and adult education. In doing so, connections to central principles and methods of political education are to be identified, especially to case, problem, pupil and conflict orientation, so that the game can be used within the framework of well-rehearsed macro methods of political education.

Educators have the opportunity to have their participation in a gamescom congress workshop credited as a further education measure by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. To receive a certificate of participation, please send a screenshot of the online seminar, which you will take towards the end of the workshop, to the following e-mail address: h.wallbott@koelnmesse.de
